Joy Orodu
(Batch 03)
Cashier Manager
Prince Ebeano Supermarket

Joy was one of those who "caught the wave" by word of mouth. She had just concluded her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and was in search of a job, when a family friend, Odafe (who also went through the training) mentioned WAVE to her. she joined batch 03 and went through what was like a stretching experience. "I didn't like debates at all" was the honest revelation she later gave. But her orientation changed during the course of her training, as she was able to conquer her fear of staging a debate in front of an audience, with the help of her teammates. Graduating with her fellow trainees and moving on to her job shadow, she took with her very important skills which she says really helps her on her current employment. Faced with real life situations and work related challenges, she is now even more prepared. "I have learnt how to attend to customers, speak in public and tolerate difficult customers and colleagues". Joy who is now a cashier manager at Prince Ebeano Supermarket thinks that "if you want to be a good business owner, WAVE is the best place to go".

Her story is inspiring. I feel motivated. She is a young girl who at a tender age knows what she wants and she is working towards becoming her dreams.

I really love the transformation that Wave is causing in the lives of the young people. Mary's experience just stands out. She is more equipped to live. This and more is what young girls especially need to compete favorably in Nigeria. Apart from the people that are in Lagos state, how can youths from other states participate in this training? How much does the training cost? Before I go, I really appreciate the leadership of West African Vocational Education. God richly bless you. Thank.
