We had the privilege of speaking with Glory Oguegbu, the founder and CEO of the Renewable Energy Technology Training Institute (RETTI).

Ms. Glory shared her journey with RETTI, the inspiration behind partnering with WAVE, and the impact this collaboration has had on their mission to bring renewable energy solutions to underserved communities in Nigeria.

1. Can you introduce yourself and your role within your organisation?

My name is Glory Oguegbu. I am the founder and CEO of the Renewable Energy Technology Training Institute (RETTI), which focuses on skills development and workforce growth for the renewable energy and broader energy sector in Nigeria.

As you know, millions of people still lack access to electricity within the country. By training individuals to design, install, distribute, and recycle solar panel systems, we not only provide access to electricity but also create jobs and drive economic growth.

 2. What inspired you to partner with WAVE?

I first connected with the WAVE team years ago after meeting with the co-founder, who expressed interest in renewable energy training.

I had already heard of WAVE as one of the leading institutions in Nigeria promoting vocational skills education, which inspired me to introduce solar training into their course offerings.

I was eager to work with WAVE because I admire their brand, their expertise in training and development, and their ability to integrate soft skills into every program they offer.

3. How has this partnership with WAVE influenced your organisation and the people you serve?

WAVE has made a significant impact by partnering with us to train nearly 200 people in solar panel design and installation over the past year. Many participants, who lack access to electricity in their communities, now have the skills to start businesses right at home, selling solar systems to their neighbours.

WAVE's support extends beyond training, offering webinars, and continuous development opportunities for underprivileged individuals.

This partnership has helped us better serve our community, and we are excited to continue working with WAVE to make an even greater impact.

4. In your view, what makes partnering with WAVE a valuable opportunity for other organisations?

WAVE is highly intentional about both their training process and the success of their students.

When we first worked with them, I appreciated their structured approach to screening applicants.

WAVE carefully selects trainees through a recruitment and interview process to ensure they are truly in need of the training and will take it seriously.

I believe WAVE can expand their impact by applying their expertise in student selection, recruitment, and post-training services to reach even more people.

5. As WAVE celebrates 11 years, what message would you like to share with the team and the broader community

Congratulations to WAVE on celebrating 11 years!

This is just the beginning—I see WAVE achieving even greater milestones in the future. I encourage WAVE to expand their partnerships to other states.

There is a clear demand within the solar industry, and WAVE could consider launching training with us in solar PV manufacturing.

Kudos to the WAVE team, especially those behind the scenes, for their hard work and commitment.

Keep up the great work and continue giving your best!

I really love the transformation that Wave is causing in the lives of the young people. Mary's experience just stands out. She is more equipped to live. This and more is what young girls especially need to compete favorably in Nigeria. Apart from the people that are in Lagos state, how can youths from other states participate in this training? How much does the training cost? Before I go, I really appreciate the leadership of West African Vocational Education. God richly bless you. Thank.
