Mary Iwunze, a bright and ambitious SSCE holder, joined the WAVE training in partnership with TEENSMATA. She shared, "I joined the training because I am interested in learning new things and upskilling myself. My expectations were to develop myself and to understand my abilities, strengths, and weaknesses for my future career."
Throughout the training, one aspect that resonated deeply with Mary was the class on emotional intelligence. "I learned about emotional intelligence and had the opportunity to incorporate it into my daily life," she reflected. The training empowered her to overcome communication challenges, encouraging her to speak up in class and actively practice her new skills.
"My communication skills came into play. I tried to take notes on everything we were taught and went back to those notes," she shared. The training not only enhanced her communication skills but also instilled confidence, transforming her into a more self-assured and self-aware individual.
One key takeaway for Mary was the understanding of setting SMART goals and gaining insights into the world of work. "This training helped me realize that I have multiple abilities and made me a more confident person," Mary affirmed.
The training, which focuses on equipping young teens with employability skills they need to become employable and succeed in the world of work, has made Mary better equipped for the workplace, more skilled, and self-aware.
