David Agbaje heard about WAVE through a flyer he came across while searching for a job. At that point, he was eager for an opportunity to learn and build relevant skills for the workplace.
"I was assured that WAVE provides quality training in both hospitality and corporate organizations," he said. His expectations were met, and he quickly found himself immersed in the rigorous training program. "The tasks were challenging, but I learned a lot during that precious time. I enjoyed meeting new people and sharing ideas too."
After his training, David's internship experience at Nylah's Kitchen in Alagomeji provided him with practical insights and hands-on experience that prepared him for the workforce.
His dedication during the training paid off when he was called for an interview at Mini Bees Bakery in Lekki Phase 1. "I made sure to take every minute of my training seriously, and that actually stood out during my interview. Out of seven candidates, I was one of the selected ones."
Today, David works as a Senior Sous Chef at Slow Lagos Restaurant and is earning the highest he has ever earned. "The skills I acquired at WAVE, such as teamwork, effective communication, and problem-solving, have been essential to my success in the culinary world. They stood out for me and continue to be crucial in my daily work."
David expresses his deep gratitude to WAVE: "WAVE remains the place where people come to learn skills and use them effectively and efficiently. For young, unemployed people, it is a means to explore and create opportunities."
