Oluwatimilehin Soewu first learned about WAVE from her mother, who had come across the WAVE building.
At the time, she had just completed her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and was eager to find a job that would start up her career.
Enrolling in Batch 57 at the WAVE Academy in Yaba, Oluwatimilehin's expectation was simple, "I was interested in learning skills I had no knowledge of before."
The training, though challenging, was a transformative experience. "I had a great time during the training. The interview part was challenging, but thanks to my facilitators, I was able to overcome it.
Her internship experience after the WAVE training at "Confidentially Yours" in Surulere was significant in helping her practice the skills she had learned during the training, and shortly after, she landed a job after just one interview.
Currently, Timilehin works as a Relationship Officer at an investment company, and the skills she gained during the WAVE training have been crucial in navigating the challenges of her role.
"It is not easy to work with people, so you have to be able to manage your emotions, the emotional intelligence and problem-solving skills are really useful on the job," she says.
Thinking back on her experience, Timilehin realized how important it was to take that first step and visit WAVE after her mom's suggestion.
“That decision has been a cornerstone in my professional life, shaping where I am today. I am thrilled to see the impact WAVE continues to have on others, helping them rise as leaders in their fields".
